Regional Queensland Small Business Grant - Applications open tomorrow at 9am, 08 September 2021

A new round of $5,000 Business Basics Grants is on its way for Regional Queensland Small Businesses.


Check the eligibility criteria, review the guidelines and get your supporting material ready. Applications open at 9:00am on 8 September 2021 and will close when sufficient applications are received for competitive assessment.


Note: This grant program is competitively assessed. Not all applications will be funded.


Available Funding


You may be eligible for a single up-front fixed grant payment of $5,000 (excluding GST).


The Business Basics grants program provides support to businesses to increase core skills and adopt best practice.


This support includes funded activities in 5 priorities:

  1. Training and coaching

  2. Website build or upgrades

  3. Professional business advice

  4. Strategic marketing services

  5. Business continuity and succession

What will not be funded:

  • activities with a total cost of less than $5,000 (excluding GST)

  • payments made before the approval date (you must be approved before you pay for grant-funded activities).


Who Can Apply


This round is only available for eligible small businesses based in Regional Queensland.


To be eligible, your business must:

  • not have been approved for funding under Round 1 of the Business Basics Grants program

  • have fewer than 20 employees (by head count) at the time of applying for the grant

  • have an active Australian Business Number (ABN) and be registered for GST

  • have a Queensland headquarters, and be based in regional Queensland

  • have a turnover of $300,000 or less for the last financial year (2020–21)

  • have owners or directors that are not insolvent or an undischarged bankrupt.

How to Apply


The Business Basics application portal will open at 9am on 8 September 2021 and can be accessed from the Business Queensland website.


Your application must include the following documents:


Signed and Witnessed Statutory Declaration

A signed and witnessed Statutory Declaration from the business's owner or director stating the business:

  • has a turnover of $300,000 or less in the last financial year (2020–21) and

  • meets all grant eligibility criteria

Supplier Quotes

No more than 2 supplier quotes detailing description and costs of services, who will undertake the activity, and an outline of key activities.
